The latest “Masters of Torque” Yamaha is the MT-10 (FZ-10 in some markets) which is a naked street fighter based on a retuned YZF-R1.
It will arrive in Australia in late June at $17,999 plus on-road costs with a titanium muffler, ABS, cruise control and a four-setting traction control system.
The MT-10 joins the Masters of Torque series which includes the MT-09 (standard, ABS and Tracer), MT-07 in full-power and LAMS versions and the new MT-03.
The MT-10 is powered by a retuned version of the R1’s 998cc cross-plane crank four-cylinder engine with more bottom end and mid-range torque.
That should make it a tractable wheelie monster!
It also comes with the R1’s Deltabox frame with fully-adjustable upside-down KYB forks and a four-way adjustable rear shock.
Rider aids will include Yamaha Chip-Controlled Throttle, three engine riding modes, three-stage traction control, ABS and even cruise control like the naked BMW S 1000 R.
Brakes are radial-mounted four-piston callipers on twin 320mm discs up front and a Nissin single-piston calliper with a 220mm rear disc. It will come with ABS as standard.
Other features include a steering damper, full LED lighting including the headlight, digital LCD display, and 12-volt DC connector.
It comes in grey and black or blue/black with yellow wheels, but we are not yet sure of the colour choices for Australia.
