Yamaha has confirmed the MT-09 big-bore naked bike will be coming by the end of the year.
It is one of a 125-new-model offensive over the next three years, although Yamaha says that “obviously” not all will be coming to Australia.
The first of these is the new MT-03 660cc roadster which arrives next month at $9999 rideaway, followed closely by the Bolt cruiser at around $12,000 with prices yet to be confirmed.
Later in the year we get the MT-09, one of the rare completely new larger-capacity bikes to hit our market in some time. Even rarer is the new triple that powers the bike.
No prices yet, but Yamaha has been doing its best to keep a lid on prices without delivering low-quality bikes.
The MT-09 promises to be a flexible weapon able to mix it with the big boys on weekend jaunts, handle weekday commuting duties and even tour.
At the heart of the bike is the new 847cc triple with 85kW of power and 84Nm of torque.
It also has an aluminium frame, upside-down forks, monocross horizontal shock, a 14-litre tank and weighs in at 188kg.
With Yamaha introducing so many new models, you can guarantee the engine will turn up in other models, the most obvious is a faired sports tourer, hopefully with a bigger fuel tank.
