If you are getting ready for MotoGP or thinking of taking your SBK out frequently, you need to think about protecting that squishy organ of yours resting on the head. But it has to be lightweight and aerodynamic so that it does not hamper the important things – speed and acceleration.
The X-Lite XF-1-XT0064 will cater to all these and more. Adorned with the Marquetry graphic in Magenta, the underlying X-802 RR beast still remains the same aggressive and lightweight carbon fiber shell that you have come to know.
For those looking baffled, the Marquetry graphic is a special wooden finish that gives a unique accent to this helmet and is visible all over the areas where the graphic overlays the carbon fiber.
The helmet only comes in with a DOT rating and there is no news about any ECE rating coming in soon, so keep that in mind before getting all excited.

The Marquetry graphic has been applied in such a way that it actually accentuates the carbon fiber layer in a subtle manner. There are no hard edges or chamfers that separate the two and you will notice this as soon as you glance over the top of the helmet or move your hand around to get a feel.
For that extra safety factor, the X-802 RR has a Double-D strap retention system.
Top Features to Look Out For
A carbon fiber helmet made for racing. Anything extra? Let’s see.
Shell
Intermediate oval should fit everyone without any issues, but check your head size before making a decision. X-Lite may have gotten their size charts figured out somewhere else, but the crucial factor in checking for a fit would be to order a size larger than your natural one – as reported by experienced users.
The helmet weighs 3 lbs. 4 oz. on a standard size, something that can irk a few riders, but it is a great effort in reducing the overall weight factor well below the 3 lbs. 6 oz. mark.
The design is perfect for your chin – on – tank, ¾ position and is basically the same X-802 RR underneath, so you get the super compact and dense result from Nolan.
Visors
The visor on the X-802 RR is supplied with a silicone sealed profile or Full Silicone Border (FSB). The package included a PinLock anti-fog inner visor that can be attached easily using the adjustable pins already present on the helmet. Still no MaxVision, since this is essentially the X-802 RR, just with an added Marquetry graphic.
The fitting system is also the same, with a press release mechanism that takes a bit of getting used to.

The X-802 RR boasts of thermoregulatory vents to keep the temperature in line with the temperature outside, which is more than enough for most days. It is not an air conditioner, so to expect it to cool your head off more lower than the ambient temperature is going too far.
It does however have a natty ventilation scheme to evaporate that sweat and make you feel relatively cool. The Racing Air Flow system has been developed after extensive testing on and off track, including wind tunnels.
The chin vent is your main inlet which allows the bulk of the air in. A breath deflector (chin guard intake) adds an extra layer of anti-fogging function. The roof vent, in combination with the supplementary top vents near the top-middle, perform a respectable job of aerating the top of your head, streaming the flow through the massively wide channels in the EPS and through to the back where the exhaust vent sucks the stale air out. The winglet extractors assist in this function and remove any leftover air circulating around your jaw line.
Padding and Lining
The comfort padding in this helmet is unique in the sense that it has active carbon filaments in the weave. Carbon is known to absorb odor producing elements in the air, so using it here solves a very important problem. It removes the odor from your sweat (or the other thing!) and keeps your nose satisfied with fresh air smell.
The cheek pads are single block, which ensure a uniform pressure on the cheeks and your jawline. The fit is on the tighter side, and might feel uncomfortable to some, but it is necessary to keep the helmet stable and reduce the wobble.
The liner is bacteriostatic, which means no microbes and no static, too.
Customer Reviews
The helmet has been received well, with experienced users advising potential fellow customers to use it on the track only. Most of them are not even concerned about any noise levels, because they wear ear-plugs on the track anyway. In general, the airflow through the top vents impressed quite a few of them.
The lack of emergency cheek pad removal disappointed a few of them, and the tightness of the pads against their face also made it uncomfortable.

The already amazing X-802 RR now comes with Marquetry graphic, which takes away the boring single black carbon fiber look. So if the absence of any graphic on the helmet was the reason for you to pass this otherwise awesome lid, X-Lite has now addressed it.
Trust your racer instinct and take a wheelie of faith. This helmet will not disappoint you.
