Triumph Australia has voluntarily recalled up to 505 Explorer and Trophy motorcycles to replace the engine control module.
The action is part of an international recall after some of the bikes suffered from a sudden loss of power due to electrical interference from the throttle position sensor.
“On rare occasions this may cause the engine ECM to enter a shutdown strategy which in turn cause the engine to lose power, resulting in a loss of driving force,” the recall notice says.
The sudden loss of power “may pose a hazard to the rider and other road users”.
Triumph will send a letter to owners to take their bike to a Triumph dealer to have the ECM replaced for free.
