Steel Butterfly is a 1978 pan-shovel with 79 shovel cases, STD Panheads, S&S flywheels, Carillo rods, KB pistons and 84″ CID. Cylinder fins have been reshaped, and a Hunt magneto and, Super E carb fitted. All that is mate’ed to a H-D rotary top jockey shift, ’78 primary of Indian Larry chain design and loaded in a HD wishbone frame. In Lock’s own words: This bike has been through many incarnations. It was originally a 1978 Superglide. Next it became the “Rusty Buzzard” (old E-Fab bike), then a rat bike in Japanese style and now this. This is my personal bike. I know everything about it and have perfected it to the point where I’m not sure if it can be improved upon without completely starting over again. It runs great, has the right amount of power for its application, and is comfortable for me. It is 100% predictable after owning it for so long. The paint was done by Robert Pradke, who did an outstanding job. Heyltje Rose seat and saddlebag. Vintage car headlight
