The webBikeWorld Live Report From The 2008 Powersports Dealer Expo

Brembo usually has some tasty bits to release at the Powersports Dealer Expo, and this year the are showing four new products for the North American market.

This includes new motorcycle front and rear caliper kits and two unique master cylinders for motorcycles, significantly expanding the company’s aftermarket offerings.
Brembo showcased the new 19 RCS (Ratio Click System), an update of the legendary product with a number of significant engineering features, all derived from MotoGP racing bikes.

The most unique feature of the Brembo 19 RCS radial brake master cylinder is a patented device that allows the motorcycle rider to choose between two settings, 18 or 20 mm, to improve either modulation or response during braking.

Previously unavailable, this feature now provides a very simple adjustment that will give the optimum feel between rider, riding style, bike and circuit.

The 16RCS motorcycle clutch master cylinder makes up a set with the 19RCS.  The 16RCS is equipped similarly with the Ratio Click System, allowing adjustment of the feel on clutch control.

Like the 19RCS brake master cylinder, this component has a forged-aluminum alloy body with hard-anodized surface finish.  With the launch of the brand new monobloc caliper the range of Brembo calipers has been extended even further.

The M4 108/100 makes monobloc technology available to a wider bike enthusiast community.  Using the very latest casting technologies by Brembo, the new caliper can be fitted to the forks of most Japanese sport bikes.  In short, the Brembo M4 is an extremely light monolithic caliper body featuring unparalleled levels of stiffness and operating precision.

At the Dealer Expo, Brembo also displayed a new rear caliper and bracket kit that is interchangeable with the majority of original equipment brake assemblies fitted to Japanese (Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha) and European (Aprilia, Ducati, Guzzi, KTM and Moto Morini) sport bike models.

Machined entirely from billet, the caliper body is the outcome of exhaustive finite element modeling calculations that optimize weight and stiffness and comes complete with sintered pads, currently the top option available on the market.  All the above products come in kits including fitting instructions and Brembo stickers.

As a global supplier, Brembo supplies the most important motorcycle, snowmobile and All Terrain Vehicle manufacturers in the world including Aprilia, Benelli, BMW, Bombardier, Buell, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Husqvarna, KTM, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Piaggio, Polaris, Triumph, Vectris and Yamaha.

I asked the Brembo rep at the show and he said the radial cylinders will fit the Ducati SportClassics, but obviously the radial brake calipers will not fit the stock forks.

Brembo’s 2007 sales totaled 896 million Euros ($1.228 billion).  Brembo has also proven dominant in motorsports with its products winning more than 200 world championships, including the 2007 Formula One, MotoGP, NASCAR Nextel Cup and 24 Hours of Le Mans championships.

Brembo is the owner of the Brembo, AP Racing and Marchesini brands.  For more information visit Brembo North America.
