The Look

The black exterior, owing to the carbon black fiber, comes with no added graphics. The scars on the helmet can, therefore, be easily visible. However, the helmet will impress you with its polished surface and zero flaws in the design. The paint finish is smooth and durable.

The Structure

The long rides with this helmet on can never be a worrisome affair. Having an oval shape, it is highly comfortable and can be an ideal companion for all your journeys. The bamboo lining of the helmet soaks the sweat and keeps it dry. The material is so chosen that even after getting wet the bamboo does not smell musty because it dries very quickly. The helmet is also provided with a chin vent, two top vents, and a rear exhaust fan. The extensive ventilation system keeps the person cool and at ease.

Noise and Weight

The helmet is quiet with the glass shield on. It, however, grows noisy with the goggles. An ear plug or music is recommended if you are speeding off on the highway. The unit is lightweight and weighs just 3 pounds and 6.6 ounces.

The Shield and the Visor

The helmet consists of a base, shield, goggles, drop down sun visor and a peak. The four different parts can be detached and connected with each other as and when required. The peak and goggles give you a protective cover while you are speeding your bike on the dirty mountain paths. The visibility through the goggles is top notch and there are absolutely no complaints there. The face shield protects your face when you are on the road. The best part of the entire set-up is that there is no hassle in putting them up or taking them off–they can just be pulled off.

The disappointment, however, lies in the inability of the biker to opt for only the sun visor and the peak. The visor is auto-sealed and adheres to the gasket providing much better insulation. The helmet provides sufficient space to accommodate a pair of sunglasses along with the sun visor. The glasses and the visor together provide a complete cover during sunny trips.

The Goggles

The Carl Zeiss double lense goggles provide an optically correct and sharper vision. The goggle frames are stiff and curved to provide a wider vision. The compact packaging has made a compromise with the ventilation. The helmet can be of utter discomfort in hot conditions.

The anti-fog and anti-scratch film on the inner and outer lenses go a long way in protecting the helmet. The lenses are smoked, which is a relief during sunny afternoons, but is a matter of concern after sunset. The goggles come with a quick release connected to the back. The absence of the nose shield gives additional protection against hard-shelled insects and other hard flying objects.

Intercom and Calling

The helmet is provided with a basic Sharktooth headset with 2.1 technology. The Bluetooth headset can be connected to mobile phones, MP3 players, and GPS navigators. The intercom facility in the headset can connect to eight other headsets, 3 devices and 2 mobile phones simultaneously. The connections can be established within a range of 400-500 meters.

The DSP noise and echo cancellation features enhance the talking clarity. The 700 hours of battery stand by allows 10 hours of music or talking. The VOX command technology of the headset allows to receive or reject the calls hands-free. The headset can also be used for voice dialing and volume level control through the VOX command technology.

Other Entertainment

Apart from calling, the headset can be connected with only a Bluetooth mp3 player and does not provide FM radio features. The controls are also pretty basic with only skip forward and back options available. All the other reset options have to be executed from the mp3 player.

Once connected, the headset has enough room for the wires and another setup. The speakers remain intact in the interior surface while the microphone rests comfortably at the front. The cheek pads have the integrated speaker pockets that make the Intercom connection easy to establish. The battery pack is situated separately keeping the entire unit compact.

The Stand Out Feature

The unique feature that sets the helmet apart is the zipper at the base of the liner. On opening it, a retractable windshield pops up that protects the neck from harsh weather conditions.
