Segura has released a very hipster jacket that takes its inspiration from the famous waxed-cotton Belstaff Trailmaster.
The French-made Segura Nomad jacket looks like traditional waxed cotton, but it’s actually a textile/leather combination.
It retails for $599.95, which is cheaper than you can buy most Belstaff jackets.
Yet it lacks for none of the hipster qualities and is even CE-certified for motorcycle use.
More specifically, it conforms to Urban Level requirements of the Directive 89/686/EEC which means it has a label featuring the number EN13595-1:2002.
Always check motorcycle clothing for the EC number EN13595-1 (level 1 and 2).
The jacket comes with CE-approved protectors in the shoulders and elbows, and there is a pocket for an optional back protector costing and extra $29.95. it’s good insurance against spinal injury.
The Nomad is claimed to be both waterproof and breathable, but that is a claim we have never found completely true in any motorcycle gear.
It comes with a removable thermo aluminium winter liner.
There are eight external leather pockets including sleeve and wrist pockets, and three internal pockets for ample storage.
Most riders should be able t fit the jacket which has adjusters at the waist and collar as well as height adjustable elbow protectors.
It has French knit ribbing on the cuffs and a velvet collar lining for a bit of extra comfort.
And, no, there’s no need to have a top knot and ride a Triumph Scrambler to wear one of these hipster motorcycle jackets.
Segura gets its name from a Spanish river. The French company began producing gear in 1967 and continues with retro or vintage styles.
