Scorpion focuses more on the intermediate oval fit of helmets because it is the most common fitment required by most of the motorcycle riders. The Exo T510 helmet is a mid-range helmet available for around $230.
You can purchase this helmet in black and white colors with some cool graphic designs. You can also find this helmet in different colors with different finishes. The low price point doesn’t show up with most of the features and it is an ideal all day riding helmet.
Features
The Scorpion Exo T510 Azalea helmet is a full-face helmet weighing about 3.53 pounds. It is a lightweight helmet in the mid-range price category. Motorcycle riders usually love helmets that weigh around the 3.5-pound mark as these helmets don’t create any discomfort even while riding for long hours.
Whether you are a daily commuter or a seasoned rider, you will enjoy wearing this helmet. The Exo helmets have a very snug fit, and so, it is better to buy a size bigger if you are unsure of your head measurements.
Shell Design
The Exo T510 is an upgrade from the Exo 400 helmets which were also popular when they were first introduced. Even though the helmet is designed for sports and touring riders, it is a perfect choice for commuters too.
The shell is made of advanced LG polycarbonate. It is not as exotic as fiberglass, but it gets the job done. It is, in fact, a standard material used in designing low and mid-range helmets. After all, for the price you pay, you need a resilient helmet which may not be exactly exotic.
One of the prominent features of the shell design is that it is available in 3 shell sizes, which is uncommon for mid-range helmets.
Face Shield and Sun Visor
The helmet has a clear face shield that uses Ellip Tec ratchet system. The rotation mechanism provides a complete seal against the gasket when the shield is closed. It also helps to change the face shield without any tools.
The visor lock ensures that the shield doesn’t wobble or flip open while riding at high speeds. The face shield can be kept in a slightly open demist position to prevent fogging in cold weather.
The most desirable feature of the Exo T510 helmet is the drop down sun visor. For less than $250, it is not easy to find a good quality helmet with a sun visor. The drop down sun protection shield eliminates any need to change the face shields. Without fiddling with the face shields, you can commute to and from work.
Both the face shield and sun visor come with anti-fog coating. The added breath deflector is also a nice addition to the helmet.

The Exo T510 has contoured cheek pads made of high-quality foam. To provide a custom fit, Scorpion has introduced the Airfit system. Some motorcycle riders love it while others hate it. If you are never satisfied with the fit of your helmet, you should try the Airfit system which allows you to blow the exact amount of air to adjust the cheek pads.
When you choose the right sized helmet, you don’t even have to use the Airfit system. The cheek pads also have emergency pad release system which will be very useful should you meet with an accident.
The cheek pads have a Kwikwick II anti-microbial liner which is comfortable and soft. It is not exactly luxurious, but it doesn’t scratch against your skin. It can be removed and washed whenever your helmet starts to smell funny.
Ventilation
The Scorpion Exo T510 features Aero tuned ventilation system. The helmet has four vents on the top and front. There is a huge exhaust vent at the back to complete the ventilation system.
The chin bar is equipped with controlling slide to adjust two-position vents. The vents can be controlled to allow air into the helmet as well as to the face of the rider. The top vent can also be opened in two positions. This allows you to customize airflow inside the helmet.
Safety
The Scorpion Exo T510 helmet adheres to the DOT requirements in the USA. The polycarbonate shell is strong enough to avoid trauma to the head, and the emergency release system is a good addition to this helmet. You can be assured of your safety while riding with this helmet.
Other Factors for Consideration
With excellent ventilation, the problem of wind noise is unavoidable. The Exo T510 helmet has loud wind noise when you ride at speeds greater than 45 mph. The neck roll provides light protection against the noise to some extent.
However, when you wear ear plugs, you can stop worrying about the wind noise. A nice feature in the $250 helmet is the speaker pockets that allow you to attach an intercom device.
