Indian motorcycle company Royal Enfield has honoured the despatch riders of the war with a limited edition range of military colours coming in July 2015 and released rideaway prices in Australia.
Despatch riders used to relay information between headquarters and ground troops during the war sometimes riding for hours through challenging conditions.
The new Despatch motorcycles are available first in India in Desert Storm Despatch and Squadron Blue Despatch.
Australian importers Urban Moto Imports say they are expecting to get the limited edition Despatch models here but arrival dates are yet to be confirmed.
The paintwork is finished in matte and has a signature camouflage design. Seats are made of Italian leather and the air-filter box is held by a leather buckle strap.
Meanwhile, Urban Moto Imports have released the new rideaway prices for the Royal Enfield range. They all come now with a standard two-year warranty and two-year roadside assist for all model-year 2015 April compliance plate motorcycles. Find your closest dealer.

To go with the new range of Despatch bikes, Royal Enfield has also developed a range of riding leather, canvas and twill apparel in shades including olive, tan, green, brown and blue.
The styling has a classic undertone with detailed bits such as epaulettes, plackets and gorgets. The leather jackets feature motifs that resemble the nuts and bolts on a motorcycle. The new collection also includes T-shirts, denim trousers, bags, wallets and a lot more.
At the moment, the apparel is also only available online in India, but is expected to be coming to Australia at some stage.
