If you were ever eyeing Showa’s brilliant suspension systems, the wait is over – as of now, Big Red fans will have access to a $7500 USD, Showa Factory A-Kit for the brand’s addicting CRF250 and CRF450 models.
Eight bands may seem like a lot, but Showa knew what they were doing when they punted this kit out. The recent press release tells us that riders can expect 49mm Dual Spring Forks with bigger internal cartridge cylinders, as well as the benefit of a 25mm mid valve/rebound piston with “a massive 39mm compression piston for unbeatable performance.”
All of the above works with some chonky 49mm Emerald-coated inner tubes and Kashima-coated outer tubes for the smoothest suspension action yet.
Precision machining is the perk of this particular 2023 product, with the Showa Factory A-Kit also showing off “CNC-machined billet aluminum axle lugs provide[ing] ultimate strength, control, and precise steering capability.”
The shock is great, too; featuring an (again) oversized Emerald-coated 18mm shaft and 50mm Kashima-coated body, the Showa Factory A-Kit Suspension Shock has tighter tolerances and a more precise setup for the track.
In short, riders will be getting a top-end system with less friction, less heat build-up, and overall improved loss of damping.
Love me some hard anodizing.
“Honda riders are going to love the new Showa Factory A-Kit Suspension,” enthuses Luciano Ubaldini, president of Andreani USA.
“There are thousands of riders competing on Honda CRF 250 and 450 motorcycles right now, and this will be a big step up in their bike’s suspension, and hopefully their lap times, too.”
A heads up that this kit will be compatible only with MY2021-23 Honda CRF250/450 models, and the $7500 USD tag includes springs.
