Riders gear up for toy runs

Christmas charity toy runs

Riders are set for toy runs all around the world over the next few weeks in the lead-up to Christmas.

Motorbike Writer invites rider groups to contact us with details about their ride and we will publish details.

There is also a comprehensive central site called Toy Run which is a Motorcycle Riders Association site that not only lists runs around Australia, but also some of the toy runs overseas, particularly in the USA.

However, it may not be a definitive source and you should probably contact your local riders’ club or dealer to find out where they are being held.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to show the Canberra politicians how well-organised and charity-focussed we riders are, join the 35th annual Canberra and Region Motorcyclists Toy Run, organised by the Motorcycle Riders Association ACT, which starts from the Old Parliament House on Saturday, December 12.

The annual Toy Run has raised tens of thousands of dollars in cash and gifts over the years.

Over 1000 bikes and riders are expected to gather from 8am for breakfast before the ride-out procession from 10am.

Riders are invited to dress up themselves and their bikes for the ride and sponsorship is provided to reward them for the best decorated bike, rider and pillion. To add to the fun of the morning, there are two perpetual trophies to the club with the biggest attendance and to the largest corporate group entry.

The ACT community is invited to come along, support the riders and see the decorated bikes and riders at Old Parliament House before they leave, watch them ride along Adelaide Ave or join them for the presentation of gifts back at Old Parliament House.

They are all invited to bring a gift or make a donation.
