REV’IT! Chronos GTX Jacket
Chronos GTX Jacket Review Summary
Review Summary
Pros
Cons

The new Rev’it Chronos GTX jacket is a replacement for the much-beloved Rev’it Turbine jacket that recently left the company’s lineup. Like other Rev’it products however, the Chronos GTX takes everything learned from the Turbine and kicks it up a notch, with a solid evolution of a proven design.

Chronos is now recognized as the Greek “god of time”, but he’s much more than that. Chronos had a complex and interesting life, according to mythology — way to complex to relate here. But the way I read it, time means seasons and seasons are what the Chronos GTX jacket does best. Three of them, anyway — and maybe four, depending on where you live.

The Chronos GTX has a waterproof/breathable liner, but…the big surprise here is that the stylish liner is wearable as a street jacket! It looks very nice with only a hint or two that its heritage comes from the world of two wheels. Remove the liner and the Chronos GTX becomes a sleek mesh jacket with sleek lines. In black, it’s easily mistaken for a 2014 version of the classic short black motorcycle jacket.

The Chronos is available in either a light gray or “classic” black and I have to say, I think I like it better in black, which is unusual for me! The Chronos has that striped reflective bars on the arms and Rev’it aficionados know what that means: Gore-Tex.

Plenty of reflective strips are included in the front and back and ProLife protectors in the shoulders and elbows are included with the Chronos. The jacket is also ready for the optional Rev’it Seesoft Level 2 back protector.

The Chronos is also prepped for the Rev’it Challenger cooling vest insert and the clever Rev’it Connector HV vest (review), which is an add-on module that meets the Euro standards for reflectivity and high-visibility.

Match it with the Rev’it Poseidon GTX pants or Neptune GTX pants, both of which have big Rev’it VCS vents on the upper legs, and you’re ready to roll three seasons per year.

Colors, Pricing and Availability

The Rev’it Chronos GTX jacket will be available in black or light gray starting in February of 2014. It will have a list price of $669.99. The MSRP of the matching Poseidon GTX pants is $629.99 or the Neptune GTX pants at $449.99. The optional Seesoft Level 2 back protector has an MSRP of $49.99.

Conclusion

The Rev’it Chronos GTX jacket appears to be a do-it-all design that should perform in three or more season riding weather. The removable and wearable Gore-Tex waterproof and breathable liner is an added bonus. The Chronos has sleek and modern good looks and should provide lots of ventilation in hot summer weather.
