Suzuki Motorcycles was strangely quiet at the Tokyo Motor Show this week, perhaps keeping its powder dry for the EICMA show in Milan next month.
While the other Japanese manufacturers displayed hi-tech, hybrid, electric, retro, leaning three-wheelers, retros, cars and even a pick-up tuck, Suzuki had nothing much new in Tokyo.
All they had were some updates, new colours and the SV650X cafe racer concept (pictured top) which was unveiled in September.
Suzuki is very quiet about whether the SV650X will go into production. Instead, they seem intent on testing customer reaction at the Tokyo and Milan shows.

The extra “R” adds a bi-directional quickshifter, racing launch control, LED position lights, lightweight battery and a black LCD instrument panel display.
Suzuki GSX-R1000RSuspension is also uprated with fully adjustable Showa BFF (Balance Free Front) fork and Showa BFRC Lite (Balance Free Rear Cushion Lite) rear monoshock.
The 2018 Hayabusa didn’t get turbocharging, Show suspension or LEDs as some tipped.
Suzuki HayabusaIn fact, there seems little that has been changed. Even the power and torque remain the same at 147kW and 155Nm.
Meanwhile, Suzuki Australia says the 2018-model GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 have arrived in new colour choices.
The 600cc supersport adds a Metallic Mystic Silver / Pearl Glacier White colour scheme and still costs $16,490 ride away.
The GSX-R750 is available now at an unchanged $17,490 ride away in three colour schemes: Candy Daring Red / Glass Sparkle Black; Metallic Grey / Glass Sparkle Black; and the Team Suzuki ECSTAR inspired Metallic Triton Blue livery.
