If you are planning to ride in the first Lions TT on October 5-6 there is some good news with prices now discounted and partial refunds available for those who have already booked.

The Lions TT is a recreational ride on the famous Lions Rd which will be closed to all non-motorcycle traffic. All riders will head in the southerly direction so they can use the whole road width. Organisers emphasise it is not a race.

Lions TT CEO Mark Luxford says they have discounted the prices after rider feedback. “We have heard you loud and clear,” he says. “You would love to partake but could only attend one day or the pricing was too steep. Now we can oblige due to exciting sponsors which will be announced later this week.”

The new prices are $179 for the full weekend (was $220), and $99 for a single day (was $150). Riders who have already booked will get a $41 refund for full weekend bookings and $51 refund for single day bookings.

He says they are also clearing up some of the confusion about ticket and camping prices with a new costs page on their website.

He says the event will also include a motorcycle festival at nearby Kyogle with the two events bringing together some elements of the Isle of Man TT and Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

He says they hope to make the event annual. “Our ultimate dream is to bring together the spirit of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the Isle of Man TT into a unique event in about five to 20 years. We’d like to make it an Australian motorcycling icon and a pilgrimage event. Australia is lacking in that.”

The Lions Rd will be closed to the public from 10am to 3pm on the weekend of October 5-6 with the 42km route from outside Rathdowney to Ripples on the Creek Cafe.

The ride is open to all registered bikes with riders setting off from the Rathdowney end at intervals of 30-40 seconds and riding within the posted speed limits.
