This is a list of Polaris ATV VIN locations to help you locate your quad’s VIN, locations vary by model and year. A VIN is stamped on the frame of all-terrain vehicles by the manufacturer to identify it and to comply with motor vehicle laws.
What is a VIN? VIN is the acronym for vehicle identification number. A Polaris ATV VIN is 17 digits in length on all modern ATVs and is stamped directly onto the quad’s frame. Each digit represents information specific to that ATV. Prior to 1997 a Polaris used 7 digits VINs on some models, don’t confuse these with the engine’s serial number. Common Polaris ATV VIN Locations
- Polaris Scrambler, Polaris Outlaw and Polaris Trail Boss VIN is located in the front left wheel well
- Polaris Trail Blazer VIN is located in the front left wheel well
- 2011 Polaris Hawkeye VIN is located in the front left wheel well
- 2013 Polaris Hawkeye VIN is located on the left rear frame in front of the tire
- Polaris Sportsman 550, 850 and XP 1000 VINs are located in the front left wheel well
- Polaris Sportsman 400, 450, 500, 570, 800 and ETX VINs are located on the left rear frame
- 2011-14 Polaris Sportsman 6×6 VIN is located on the left rear frame
- 2017-18 Polaris Sportsman 6×6 VIN is located on the right rear wheel well
- Youth model Polaris ATV VINs can be on the very front of the frame or stamped on the frame in the left-side wheel well. This includes Outlaw 50, Outlaw 90, Outlaw 100, Sportsman 90, Sportsman 110, Predator 50 and Phoenix 200 models
Exceptional Polaris ATV VIN Locations
- 2007 Polaris Hawkeye VIN was located on a sticker on the front cowling(plastic). Note: in this location the sticker is prone to wearing off
- All 1985-1995 Polaris ATVs may have their VIN on the frame in the right side footrest
- All 1996 Polaris ATV VINs are located either on the right side near the shift selector or under the seat on the upper shock mount cross-member
- All 1997 Polaris ATV VINs are located under the seat on the upper shock mount cross-member
- All 1998-2010 Polaris ATV VINs are located in the front left wheel well

- The VIN is worn down and/or has been painted over
- It was stamped on a metal tag that has rusted off
- The stamp was on a part of the ATV’s frame that has been replaced
- The VIN is hidden behind Your ATV’s winch or blocked from view by other accessories.
