Compass Expeditions has a special rental deal available for people who return their expedition bikes from Patagonia at the bottom of South America to Chile.
Many motorcycle tour companies make these offers from time to time as an economical way to transport vehicles back to where they started from.
The Compass Expedition bikes will have to be collected from Ushuaia on December 5, 2017, and returned in Pucon, Chile, by December 21.
The base rental price is $1500 for a BMW F 700 GS or a $500 upgrade to rent either a BMW F800GS, Triumph Tiger 800XC or BMW R1200GS. (All prices are in American dollars).
If you had the bike for the full 17 days, the price would normally cost between $3000 and $3740, so it’s virtually half price.
Perfect time in Patagonia
Company spokesman Craig Jackson says December is the perfect time of year to ride in Patagonia.
“If you have ever dreamed of riding independently in this spectacular part of the world, this is your chance to do it and save a lot of money at the same time,” he says.
“We can assist with a route, itinerary and pre-booked accommodation or you can make your own way in your own style if you prefer.”
