Helmet Cam Options
This camera comes with an adhesive patch that sticks to the side of the pilot’s helmet to give a 135 degree wide field of view which is perfect for action and tight spots where are larger camera just would get in the way or be impractical.
The integrated rails the camera has on both sides allow for the ultimate flexibility in mounting the camera, and second 
options for this camera such as car mounts or mounting it on your handle bars etc. The quality of the camera is stunning and the lens has minimal distortion, most of which could be corrected in post if needed. On a side note, the output is .mov which is fine for macs, and if you are using the latest versions of Adobe Premiere Pro it does now support .mov natively. You should have no problem editing it the footage as long as you are using those programs or something comparable like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Elements.
For the price, and simplicity can not beat this camera when it comes to a helmet mounted action cam. This camera is the perfect solution for scenarios where you could never risk taking your $3K camera – like beaches, amusement parks or a kayaking trip. You will still get stunning full HD quality and great audio playback to enjoy those moments over and over again.
The simplicity of this camera will probably be its biggest selling point for sportsman and outdoor enthusiast. The camera just has a simple on and off switch, all the other not so complicated settings are done when the camera is attached to a computer.
The overall video quality is quite impressive. You can expect smooth video with no artifacts. The color and white balancing is usually pretty spot on, and the audio quality will be good when speaking, though you will experience some distortion in extremely windy situations, but that is consistent with other cameras of this type. There is not really a comparable action camera at this price point.
Helmet Cam Features
The ContourHD helmet camera is very sturdy and composed of anodized aluminum for durability. It’s water-resistant though not waterproof. The mounting mechanism seems sturdy as well and even the plastic mounts is high quality. The ContourHD isn’t shaped like a traditional camera like the GoPro and is more conducive to helmet mounting and point of view action videos for sports and outdoor enthusiast.
Everything from the On/Off switch, battery door cover, and microSD slot are all behind the back cover which is practical and convenient. The back cover is easy to open and is tethered. Combined with the light weight this makes it very practical in terms of a helmet camera when compared to the GoPro.
Overall if you are looking for an affordable camera that isn’t cumbersome, bulky and will be able to capture stunning action moments with that POV look and feel the ContourHD helmet camera is one of the best options out there for simple out of of the box action video. It’s durable, dependable and has a decent battery life for long recording. With high volume microSD cards you can get hours continuous full HD footage with no issues.
