The manufacturer claims that it’s “Clear. Won’t fly off. Best for O-rings. New clear formula with synthetic sperm oil (!).”
It’s supposed to be “Specifically formulated not to fly off O-ring chains. Contains Molybdenum Disulfide. Quickly covers the chain links, then thickens. Keeps O-rings moist.”
Manufacturer recommends spraying on “upper edges of overlapping chain sideplates as they move away from rear sprockets”.
This procedure differs from the recommendations of most chain lube products.
Our Comments
PJ1 chain lube and other PJ1 products can be found in many motorcycle shops.
The PJ1 Blue Label Chain Lube is a clear spray.
Our sample has an accessory tube that attaches to the spray top.
A large volume of liquid sprays out of the end of the tube, rather than a finer mist.
This allows too much waste, because much of the liquid drops off the chain before it can soak in or set up.
It’s very hard to determine the efficacy of chain lube and to compare products.
We don’t care for the amount of overspray that seems to be a result of the PJ1 can’s design.
