This Mobed motorcycle tent promises to keep you safe from the wet, plus snakes, bugs and even crocodiles while also safeguarding your bike from theft?
The German company has not yet listed a price yet for the Mobed, nor do they have it in production, but you can send them an email and declare your interest.
So far it is only available for the BMW R 1200GS Adventure series from 2006 to 2013 and the BMW R 1200 GS series from 2004 to 2012 with the original Adventure pannier rack.
However, it is believed they will expand their range to more big bikes with centre stands.
Car rooftop and ute-tray (pickup truck tray) tents have been available for a long time, but this is the first time we have seen one on top of a motorcycle.
Mobed advantages/disadvantages?
It looks like a great idea, but we are a little skeptical about its sturdiness when getting in and out and if you are a restless sleeper. You certainly wouldn’t want to invite a friend in!
You would also have to make sure you put the bike on solid ground so it doesn’t topple over.
However, riders love to camp and it looks like it would be a quick and convenient foldout solution.
One of the other advantages would be that the bottom of the tent wouldn’t get dirty and need cleaning before folding away each morning.
The only disadvantage would be the weight and possibly the loss of the top box area for storage. Mobed has not yet replied about the weight of the tent.

This is just the thing for those travellers attending the Horizons Unlimited East Coast meeting at Jindabyne, NSW, from Friday, November 18, to Sunday, November 20.
Camping tips is one of the big areas of interest among worldwide travellers at the meetings and the advantages in areas of dangerous wildlife would be a real positive aspect of this innovative German product.
