As y’all plan and prep for the coming season’s iteration of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, we pause the packing to bring you news that the Rally’s current beloved assistant director will be taking over as the official Director for the first time.

We all know that these rallies and rides don’t plan themselves; it takes quick wit and an absolute steel trap of a thinktank to bring the best out of a ball of fun like the Sturgis Rally.

By all accounts, Tammy Even-Cordell is primed and ready for the undertaking, with her role beginning at the retirement of  the current director, Jerry Cole, in May.

“Previous event experience includes Biketoberfest, Daytona Bike Week festivals, Harley-Davidson Rally Point, and her work with the Sturgis Rally as assistant director,” states the report from the Rapid City Journal.

“In addition to her events background, she also brings retail and municipal knowledge, having worked with the city in both the City Manager and City Attorney’s offices. Her retail experience will allow the rally to expand their branding and merchandising efforts, according to a press release.”

Even the Mayor Mark Carstensen has mentioned that Even-Cordell’s experience with the city will “provide valuable knowledge of sponsorship relationships and fulfillment requirements necessary to meet expectations.”

“Tammy has worked hard to promote Sturgis as a premier tourism destination, while not losing sight of the needs of our local community,” he says.

“I congratulate her and look forward to working with her to continue to promote events here in Sturgis.”
