Mt Glorious motorcycle fans will have to find another road for a while.
The biker playground road just out the back of Brisbane is set for some major roadworks shortly which will disrupt traffic until about November.
Moreton Bay Regional Council is planning major roadworks on Mt Nebo Rd from the Dr Red winery to the east, including carving out the side of a hill to make the road straighter and wider, or as council says “to improve safety for motorists”.
The rest of the roadworks are patch-ups.
Traffic controllers will be on duty and after hours those annoying automated traffic signals will be in operation.
Over the years the road has been quite well maintained, but floods in 2010 caused some damage which took a fair while to fix.
There have also been works on the Samford approach to the mountain but they are expected to be completed later this month.
