Reserve One of Two New Versions

Lightning Motorcycles has a new model in the works called the Strike. We shared a teaser of the upcoming electric motorcycle not long ago. Now the company has opened up for reservations. The company said that it decided to open up reservations for the model after the unexpectedly high number of requests it got from consumers.

This announcement should please those customers. Lightning Motorcycles decided to tier the reservations for two different versions of the motorcycle. The Strike Carbon Edition will be the first model to be produced. We don’t know much about it. The name suggests it will have a lot of carbon fiber. Lightning said the model will come “fully configured with every available option included.” The reservation price for that bike is set at $10,000.

The regular version of the Strike can be reserved for only $500. Customers can add additional options to the standard model, which will impact its $12,998 price. Those options, however, have not been disclosed. Production of the regular Strike will occur after the Carbon Edition production has finished. Both reservation deposits are 100 percent fully refundable should you change your mind.

In case you missed the Lightning Motorcycles’ announcement, the Strike will be the company’s second model and its first designed for a mass market. Lightning Motorcycles says the bike has a top speed of 150 mph, can travel 150 per charge, and charge in as little as 35 minutes with a DC fast charger. The rest of the bike’s details will come on March 19th.

This announcement should send a shock down Harley-Davidson’s spine. There was a question as to whether or not Lightning Motorcycle’s claims for its new bike and its price were legitimate. Lightning’s decision to take reservations should be a clear indicator that it is serious.
