Lap of Australia to aid Beyond Blue

Ride to the edge Aussie ‘lap” to aid Beyond Blue
Taber and Damien

Sydney riders Taber and Damien plan to ride around Australia’s Highway 1, raising awareness of depression and $33,500 for the Beyond Blue charity.

Taber knows all too well that the struggle is real having gone through his own experience with depression last year.

He says “prevention is nine-tenths of the cure” and hopes this journey will encourage people suffering in silence with depression to open a dialogue with someone who can help.

Their “Ride to the Edge” leaves from Sydney on October 18 and they anticipate the journey will take around eight weeks, heading first down through through Canberra to Melbourne for the MotoGP.

“Following that, we’re touring around Tasmania for a few days, then head back to the main land,” Taber says.

They will visit every state and capital along the way and cover over 17,000km while raising awareness and funds for Beyond Blue which “provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live”.

The Ride to the Edge journey will be documented on Ridetotheedge.com where supporters will be able to track their progress live, view uploaded video diaries and photos, read journal articles, and make donations.

Taber is riding a heavily modified 2015 model Suzuki V-Strom 1000 and Damien has chosen a Honda CTX1300 sports cruiser.

Damien says he has always wanted to lap the content and wants to support both his friend and others who have dealt with depression.
