KTM Australia has issued a video teaser of its forthcoming full-length feature film about its recent Adventure Rallye, including chopper rescues of several crashed riders.

The short teaser video doesn’t shy away from the obvious “adventure” or danger of the third annual KTM Australia Adventure Rallye.

Rider rescues

Instead, it shows the harsh terrain and rescues of some of the crashed riders and their bikes by med-evac and bike-evac choppers.

It makes a virtue of their emergency response planning in the remote Northern Territory Outback.

In the first coupe of days of the rallye, seven riders were injured in crashes, mainly in passing on very dusty tracks.

Organisers blamed the crashes on dusty conditions which limited visibility, prompting them to advise the more than 250 participants to be more cautious in overtaking and “ride to their abilities”.KTM Adventure Rallye 2018 Outback Run

KTM and Automotive Holdings Group spokesman Dave Christison told us that the rallye not included choppers for rescues, but also two doctors, three paramedics, a flight nurse and a fixed-wing aircraft.

“It’s a very well planned event. We have a massive emergency and critical response plan that has worked,” he said.

“The evacuations have run perfectly. This is spectacular remote terrain which is why we put in place the logistics we did.”

Organisers said the Rallye was tailored to suit “all rider abilities, from first year adventure riders up to seasoned professionals”.

The video certainly shows the dramatic and remote outback terrain, including “previously unridden tracks and trails” through working private properties.

It was produced by Motology Films who will compile a “full-length feature film” of the seven-day rallye.

If you aren’t deterred by the “adventure” or danger, details of their next event will be available on their website.

KTM rally events are also offered in Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand.
