KTM Rallye heads into remote outback

KTM Adventure Rallye 2018 Outback Run

The third annual KTM Australia Adventure Rallye will head into the Northern Territory outback on previously unridden tracks and trails.

The event is so remote, the organisers will have a helicopter available if med-evac or bike-evac is required.

The two first two events were held on the east coast.

For the 2018 Rallye Outback Run from June 1-8, riders will head to Maryfield Station, 500km south of Darwin, and ride through private properties thanks to a partnership with North Star Pastoral.

KTM Australia GM Jeff Leisk says the ride will be unique.

“Some of these locations simply are once-in-a-lifetime in terms of the access,” he says.

“This is going to be a ride that money truly can’t buy.”

It is open to Orange Adventure Riders on 640, 690, 950, 990, 1050, 1090, 1090R, 1190, 1190R, 1290 and 1290R models.

The Rallye is tailored to suit all rider abilities, from first year adventure riders up to seasoned professionals.

Riders will be supported by luggage trucks, medical personal, technical experts, and lead and sweep riders.

Rugged outback

KTM Rallye Route Coordinator Nick Selleck says the terrain will be rugged, varied and different.KTM Adventure Rallye 2018 Outback Run

“You will get to see a large part of the NT during this ride and mostly it is in areas that are not accessible to the general public,” he says.

“Many of the sights you will see on this ride are not on the tourist maps but they certainly deserve a place there.”

Riders will have access to North Star Pastoral’s Maryfield and Limbunya stations as well as Heytesbury Cattle Co’s Humbert River Station.

All stations will allow riders on private land that motorcycles have never accessed before.

Riders will also see the staff in action on these working cattle stations.KTM Adventure Rallye 2018 Outback Run

The Rallye finishes in Alice Springs for the start of the 2018 Finke Desert Race.
