Remember that Triumph X Bajaj project set to punt out a handful of single-cylinder bikes in the chase for high-volume sales (and more condensed machines featuring Hinckley-based style aesthetics)?

Well, there’s another marque that’s had an in on India’s saturated markets for the better part of a decade – and the recent successes of KTM’s 390 Adventure could mean the Austrian’s iconic, do-it-all adventure beastie is primed for upgraded componentry.

“Sourced from none other than WP Suspension, an upgraded suspension system in the already capable 390 Adventure could result in one of the most capable entry-level ADVs we’ve ever seen,” admits coverage from RideApart

Keep in mind, the new aesthetic for anything connected to Bajaj carries a tendency toward accessibility, high-volume sales, and lower-cc offerings (preferably with a focus on electric power). The Adventure 390 is made in India (in a Bajaj-owned plant), is the lowest-cc adventure machine available from KTM, and has yet to stand next to a sibling variant.

All told, we think Enrico Punsalang’s right in his guesswork. The 390 Adventure situ is primed for something akin to an “R” variant… though there is still generous wiggle room left in the guesswork as updates come down the pipeline.

What do you think KTM is working on for their 390 Adventure?
