While we would love to see a KTM 690 Adventure to replace the void left by the 640 Adventure several years ago, KTM may have plans for something smaller later this year.
It is believed that KTM is considering a 390 Adventure to add to their naked Duke 390 and RC 390 sportsbike. While it may be specifically targeted at the Indian and South East Asian market, it could be worthwhile bike for Australia.
Such a simple and lightweight adventurer would suit the novice Aussie adventure rider who just wants a weekend getaway machine that could tackle a few single trails as well as having some road manners and cargo capacity to get away from the big smoke.
The KTM 390 Adventure will have a heavier-duty suspension with more travel, running on dual-purpose tyres, with a fairing to offer some weather protection and a wider, better padded seat for the long haul out of town.
The dual-purpose machine will feature a tall riding position, a bigger fuel tank capacity and high ground clearance.
It will be powered by the same single-cylinder engine as in the Duke 390 or RC 390, but tuned for more low-end torque.
