Kawasaki Motor Australia has recalled the latest Ninja ZX14R over an issue that could reduce braking performance.
The official notice issued through the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says the front brake master cylinder may have components missing, which may interfere with the force applied when braking.
“This can result in a loss of brake performance,” it says.
“Reduced brake performance can increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to the rider and other road users.”
The issue affects 30 bikes whose Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs ) are listed at the end of this article.
Owners of affected motorcycles should contact their nearest Kawasaki dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the motorcycle.
It’s the second recall for Kawasaki this year after a recall on their Z400 and Ninja 400 for an engine stalling issue.
Even though manufacturers and importers usually contact owners when a recall is issued, the bike may have been sold privately to a rider unknown to the company.
Therefore, Motorbike Writer publishes all motorcycle and scooter recalls as a service to all riders.
If you believe there is an endemic problem with your bike that should be recalled, contact the ACCC on 1300 302 502.
