Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R Recall

2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R ABS

Missing Brake Component

Kawasaki issued a recall on all 2021 Ninja ZX-14R motorcycles due to a potentially missing brake component. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted in published documents that about 84 of the motorcycles built between August 3 and September 23 of 2020 are impacted.

The issue is that there could be a missing component in the front brake master cylinder that could cause issues with the hydraulic fluid flow. If the component is missing you could experience inconsistent brake force and a reduction in braking power at the front wheel.

As you can imagine, this could result in an accident that could potentially cause injuries or death. The recall came after there was a report on a pre-retail unit. Kawasaki acted quickly to figure out that a key component was missing. At this time no reports of accidents have come up. However, it’s always best to be safe and take your motorcycle into the dealer to have it checked out.

You can reach out to your local Kawasaki dealer about this if your bike is affected, or you can call 1-866-802-9381. Additionally, you can reach out to the NHTSA online or call 1-888-327-4236.
