Kawasaki Motors Australia has cut $500 off the price of its 2016 Ninja 650L ABS and ER-6nL ABS learner-approved bikes, as well as the full-licence Ninja 650 ABS.
2016 Prices (+ORC) are: Ninja 650L ABS – $9999; Ninja 650 ABS – $9999 and ER-6nL ABS – $9499.
There have been a number of updates to the 2016 model Ninja 650L that make it faster, easier t handle, more comfortable and more attractive.
The bike is still powered by the compact 649cc parallel twin, but it is now tuned with more torque in the everyday range (below 7000rpm) for better acceleration around town.
Restyling has made the bike look more like the rest of the Ninja racing bikes with a more aggressive nose and shorter tail with LED taillight.
For 2016, the models also come in Candy Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black and Candy Persimmon Red with Metallic Spark Black.
The bike has a new high-tensile steel double-pipe perimeter frame and double-pipe swingarm settings that Kawasaki claims will make it lighter, slimmer and more nimble.
Despite the slimmer frame, the new rear frame has an increased payload, up 20kg to 200kg.
Kawasaki has revised the suspension settings for a 2mm longer rear stroke and 5mm longer front so they can lower the spring rates and improve ride over rough roads. Damping has been revised accordingly.
The two-piece seat cushion is now thicker for more comfort. The slimmer frame and seat also make it easer to get your feet on the ground.
Adding to the comfort is a rubber-mounted and 10mm wider handlebar for less “jackhammer effect” and a more relaxed riding position.
The new wind-tunnnel-tested windscreen is now adjustable in three positions for better wind protection and there are more cutouts in the fairing for improved heat protection.
Kawasaki claim the new instruments are easier to read with new functions such as fuel range, instant and average fuel consumption and an economical riding indicator that shows when you are conserving fuel.
