Australia’s internationally awarded MotoCAP motorcycle gear safety ratings service has added ratings on safety and comfort for nine jackets and two pairs of pants to its growing list of tested products.
The new ratings brings the total number of items of clothing to 281, comprised of 117 jackets, 72 pairs of pants and 92 pairs of gloves.
MotoCAP says many of the latest garments tested received lower protection ratings due to poor impact protection.
“Replacing the armour in these garments would improve the impact protection, and this information is included in the advice online,” the say.
Many manufacturers provide protectors as accessories, rather than standard inclusions wth the garments, allowing riders to decide their level of safety.
However, MotoCAP has encouraged manufacturers to provide high performing impact protectors in their garments “to ensure maximum protection for riders”.
The new ratings can be viewed on the MotoCAP homepage by scrolling down to “Latest Rated Products”.
