Supplies of Honda Africa Twin, Fireblade, VFR1200F, NC750X and Goldwing will start flowing again as production has resumed at the Kumamoto factory damaged in the April earthquake.

While there were no fatalities of Honda workers, the factory sustained damage in the quake and the majority of production being prepared for shipping was also damaged.

Production was suspended from April 14, but has been restored in stages. On May 6, the supply of parts for production outside of Japan resumed and assembly of power products restarted on May 13.

Production of key models resumed at a reduced volume on June 6 with production stepping up in stages.

Now, the FUN line, a production line for large-sized motorcycle models including the CRF1000L Africa Twin, is ready to resume production.

As a result, overall production at Kumamoto Factory was virtually normalised as of August 22, 2016.

In a letter to all Australian Honda dealers, Honda Australia motorcycle GM Peter Singleton said the Africa Twin would be most affected.

Delivery of the 2016 Goldwing was also affected, although there were some units already on the water.

The flagship motorcycle factory also makes the Fireblade, VFR1200F and NC750X as well as parts for many overseas models.
