Well, not quite!Honda CX500 NOS project bike

We had a competition some months back asking what we should do with our Honda and the winner whimsically suggested NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems).

The guys at Rocker saw that and suggested we have a bit of fun with the project and store small the lithium-ion battery inside something that looked like a NOS bottle.

So they found an old fire extinguisher, chopped it, installed a hinged door, made a bracket to hold the bottle and we had it painted by Simca Specialist Motorcycle Repairs, in Slacks Creek, Brisbane, who also did the fake rust tank paint job.

They added a gauge and braided line and bought a NOS sticker online from a Gold Coast company and now it looks like something out of Fast and Furious!
It should be a good conversation starter for the project bike which you should see soon at your local cafe or rally.

We’re hoping the first public showing will be at the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride at the Sunshine Coast.Honda CX500 NOS project bike

Meanwhile, you might also notice the canvas bag and the rope on the handlebar brace and rear mudguard.

They are the bright idea of Matt Jones, owner of Rocker who has noticed the rat trend for canvas and old boat rope being used on restored VW bugs.Honda CX500 NOS project bike

You will also notice we have upgraded the suspension to TEC Classic shocks from The Cafe Racer Shop.
