The Red Dot Design Awards are an internationally-acclaimed accolade in our industry, with the winners a direct example of today’s technical, social, economic, and ecological demands on the consumer industry – which is probably why Big Red is so jazzed to have won a big ‘ol Red Dot Design award for two of her models.
The lucky winners both adopt Honda’s new 755cc twin heart, with the EU variant of the CB750 Hornet and the exclusive model of the XL 750 Transalp (the one sold outside Japan) taking the honors.
“This year, Honda is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its founding,” enthuses Honda’s R&D chief design officer (and managing director), Toshinobu Minami (via coverage from RideApart).
“We are very pleased to win the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design in both motorcycle and automobile designs. We believe that we have been able to win this world-class design award for four years in a row because Honda’s “people-centric” approach to Monozukuri (art of making things) has been well conveyed to our customers and society directly through our products.”
“Honda will continue to carry on this approach and passion and keep surprising and inspiring people with our design.”
All in all, we’re excited to see Honda’s machines continuing to clock top marks from the Red Dot jury.
