Novice riders interested in the small capacity naked market now have an even wider variety of motorcycles to choose from with the addition of the Honda CB300R.
The all-new learner-approved bike will cost $5999 (plus on-road costs) and is slightly more retro looking than its sister CB300FA ($5699).
Naked market
This section of the market is growing rapidly with a host of new models hitting the market in the past couple of years at mostly competitive prices.
The small-capacity naked/retro motorcycle segment consists of: Benelli BN 302 ($5690), BMW G 310 R ($5790), CFMoto 400NK ($5990), Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 ($$11,9990) and Hashtag 400 (about $10,990), Harley-Davidson Street 500 ($11,495 ride away), Kawasaki Z300 ($5999), Royal Enfield Classic 350 ($5590) and Rumbler 350 ($6760), Suzuki TU250X ($5990), SWM Gran Turismo ($7490 ride away) and Yamaha SR400 ($8099).
Sport Naked family
The Honda CB300R is part of the brand’s new Sport Naked family which includes the modern/retro 1000cc Neo Sports Café ($14,995).
Honda’s 143kg naked baby commuter features 41mm upside-down forks, round headlight, mag wheels, ABS, tapered rubber-mounted aluminium handlebar, LCD instrument display and full LED lighting.
It is powered by a 286cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine with 22.7kW of power at 8500 revs and 27Nm of torque at 7250rpm.
Honda says the engine has been designed to be low maintenance with the minimum number of moving parts. It features the low-friction piston rings, high-density core radiator and an iridium spark plug to increase fuel efficiency.
It will be available in silver, black or red.
