The DS X1 helmet has 5 intake vents and 4 exhaust vents. The chin vents can be easily adjusted with a slider that can be reached with a gloved hand. The passive vents along the side also aid in the airflow.
The chimney vents can also be opened and closed with thicker gloves. The exhaust vents pull the warm air out of the helmet efficiently. The HJC DS X1 helmet incorporates ACS (Advanced Channeling Ventilation System) that ensures front to back airflow to remove heat and humidity inside the helmet.
Interior
The helmet comes with a chin curtain that can be added if you want. The snaps of the interior liner are comfortable, and they don’t create pressure points.
Unlike other helmets, the DS X1 helmet uses a double D-ring for the interior liner. It is not hard to use, but it is just uncommon with helmets. It is, however, easier to remove the interior liner without too much of an effort.
The contoured cheek pads with super cool fabric are comfortable against the skin. The interior also includes cutouts for speakers for intercom systems. Many adventure riders and street riders alike would like to communicate with other riders. The intercom system greatly helps you in communicating with your peers while riding on the road.
The fabric liner is also removable and washable. The dual density EPS liner has airflow channels that assist in providing a good ventilation inside the helmet. The interior is made using advanced CAD technology to provide superior fit.
Face Shield System
The goggles can’t be used with the face shield. You have to remove the face shield to use the goggles. If you want to use your eyewear while wearing this helmet, you can comfortably do so.
The face shield provides a good seal against the gasket. With this helmet, you may not be able to adjust the face shield in different positions. However, for a sub-$200 helmet, you can’t expect anything more than this.
The face shield has a large eyeport and excellent goggle fit. It is one of the rare features in a helmet available for less than $200.
Safety
The DS X1 helmet comes with DOT approval, which means that it is much safer to use this helmet on the road. The helmet has DOT approval for all riding modes and so, you don’t have to worry about your safety just because you want to ride your dirt bike.
Other Factors for Consideration
The peak is one of the important features of an adventure helmet, and it changes the way you ride your bike. The peak is fitted using screws that are solid metal inside. The hard plastic peak has numerous vents to provide airflow. It only requires a few minutes of your time to remove the peak or face shield to configure your helmet in a different riding mode.
It gives a great value to your money and can be used for different ride types for years to come.
