Heavy Duty Motorsports relocates

Queensland’s largest custom bike shop, Heavy Duty Motorcycles, has grown so quickly it has relocated for the second time in under two years and changed it names to Heavy Duty Motorsports.

The store was at Slacks Creek, then moved “around the corner” to Underwood and doubled in size.

Now it is at even bigger premises on the busy Ipswich Rd at Oxley where it is renamed Heavy Duty Motorsports because they also stock “big boys’ toys” including 4WDs, dirt bikes and even prime movers, says sales director Simon Yates.

“A lot of Harley riders like 4WDs and we get truck drivers who have a 4WD and a Harley and many who go dirt bike riding on the weekends, so it’s a good fit,” Simon says.

Simon says they started 11 years ago with a “big passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles but on small-scale premises”.

“We wanted not just to go forwards, but also sideways with much bigger premises,” he says.

The new Oxley site covers 10,000 square metres of big boys’ toys and includes sales and servicing of several motorcycle brands, four-by-fours, performance vehicles and prime movers.

The new motorcycle brands include CFMoto, SWM and Sherco, plus they will also sell Kymco scooters and ATVs, Landboss side-by-side ATVs and choppers from companies such as Thunder Mountain and Iron Horse.

They continue to stock a wide range of pre-owned Harleys with a large spare parts and accessories section for many motorcycle brands and their workshop can cater for regular services right up to full custom builds, Simon says.

“When complete, the facility will have a dyno room, new bike showrooms, even a café and customer lounge – which will be an ideal location to start and finish our very popular monthly rides,” Simon says.

The fit-out of stage 1 is nearly complete and the Heavy Duty Motorsports website has a list of bikes for sale, services, parts and accessory catalogues and a download to their mobile app.

They also still do Nitrotyre nitrogen refills for motorcycles for $49.50 a year that includes free top-ups and replacements if you get a puncture or you ever need to top up the tyres elsewhere with normal air.

They also sell bling, performance parts, helmets, riding gear and more.

Out the front is a large undercover area for staging monthly shop rides and hosting barbecues for patrons. The foyer has a TV and lounge area for patrons to wait while their bike is being serviced.
