Don’t let the mesmerising finish distract you from all the fine detail that went in to this cafe racer. I especially like the way he set the tail light into the fender and the compass set into the gas cap. That finish is sometimes called Motor turning or Machine turning but I think the proper name is: Engine turning and it refers to a fine geometric pattern inscribed onto metal as a finish. Aluminium is often the metal chosen but any metal can be finely machined to produce intricate repetitive patterns that offer reflective interest and fine detail.
