Extreme Bike Tours is offering an “extreme” discount of $US1000 (about $A1280 and €817) on their April 2018 Bhutan motorbike adventure.

Riders need only book before March 5, 2018, for the discount on the 15-day tour starting on April 14.

Bhutan bike tour

Bhutan, lying on the ancient Silk Road in the Himalayas, was closed off to rest of the world for centuries.

The kingdom has tried to let in some aspects of the outside world such as tourism, but is fiercely guarding its ancient traditions.

The 15-day, personalised small group tour begins in Delhi, India, on April 14, before a flight to Bagdogra in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Riders will be on Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycles in iconic Desert Storm colours.

They will ascend into the mountain region of Paro, visit one of the largest Buddha statues in the world at Thimphu, see the formidable Trashigang fortress and enjoy the winding roads and spectacular views of the Yutongla, Dochula and Thrumshingla mountain passes.

The cross-country ride through Bhutan from west to east finishes in Gauwhati, India, with a flight back to Delhi.

The personalised tour includes 12 days of riding, with stays each night in hand-picked hotels and guesthouses.

The tour costs $US5950 for licensed riders including a $US1000 discount if booked by March 5, 2018. For pillion riders on the same bike, the trip costs $US5200, including a $US500 discount. (Click here to check conversion rates for your currency.)

The cost includes domestic flights in India, accommodation, all meals on tour, fuel and motorbike hire. International flights are not included and tours and fares are subject to availability and certain conditions.
