Tesla is a brand that makes waves; good or bad, you know there will always be something to talk about; recent ripples, for instance, have been about how Tesla removed the patents on their NACS (North American Charging Standard) systems – and with Electrify America now adopting NACS (via Tech Crunch), the rush has begun to install compatible plugs to future machines.

Included in the rush of four-wheeled marques is Verge Motorcycles. Known for identifying as “The Tesla of motorcycles,” Verge is now also the world’s first two-wheeled brand to adopt Tesla’s plugs for their own electric bikes.

“We have been following with interest the discussion about the future of the charging infrastructure and Tesla’s decision to open up its NACS charging standard,” says Marko Lehtimäki, chief technology officer at Verge (via coverage from Powersports Business).

“Providing our customers with a comprehensive and easy fast charging system is vital in terms of Verge’s growth. We are currently preparing to enter the US market, and as the Tesla of motorcycles, this decision seemed like a natural solution for us.”

“Total customer service is everything for Verge.”

Why would Verge adopt NACS plugs?

Based on the coverage from Electrek, Tesla’s NACS network will carry a stunning 17,000 stations – a hefty amount for the burgeoning electric industry, and one that will hopefully alleviate the need for charger wait times in the near future.

Now all we have to do is wait and see who, among today’s popular zero-emission brand, will be next to use NACS connectors.
