Ducati has produced a lightweight version of its 1199 Panigale which it claims has the world’s highest power-to-weight ratio.
The limited edition 1199 Superleggera (Italian for superlight) will cost $85,000 plus on-road costs and is made of exotic and expensive materials such as titanium, magnesium and carbon fibre.
Ducati claims it will have the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production motorcycle with more than 200hp (149kW) and weighing just 155kg dry and 177kg wet.
The limited number of 500 bikes will be offered first to owners of the ultra-exclusive and expensive Desmosedici RR or R.
They will have first right of refusal, which should leave even fewer available for purchase.
Ducati says 75% of the 1199 Superleggera have already been sold.
The Superleggera comes with a full race titanium Akrapovic exhaust, dust cover, front and rear paddock stands, machined mirror fill-caps, removal kits for registration plate holder and a sidestand.
It will be displayed at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan in November.
