Davida Koura their first full-face helmet

Davida Koura helmet

UK helmet manufacturer Davida has launched their first first full-face helmet, the Koura, at the EICMA motorcycle show last week.

Davida is better known for their open-face helmets, but now they have followed in the footsteps of brands such as Bell, Biltwell and Veldt in producing a retro-styled full-face helmet.

Their open-face helmets have a slimline look because they make the shell in so many different sizes, rather than beefing it out with thicker foam for smaller sizes.

They have trodden a similar path with the new Koura which is Maori for gold. They claim it is the smallest dual-standard full-face helmet in the world.

Davida says they have added Italian MotoGP and F1 racing helmet designers to their technical team who produced the smallest-profile road-legal Davida Speedster V3 in 2016 and now the Koura.

The shell is made of orbital laminated GRP or the finest racing grade of carbon-fibre available with an F1-performance-level visor.

The leather liner is removable and the chin strap has a double-D ring.

Koura coming in 2018

Koura will be available in the first quarter of 2018  but there is no word on price yet.

However, Davida open-face helmet prices last year came down about $100 in the wake of the new Euro helmet laws that allow their use and sale in Australia.

It means the company didn’t have to pay for extra Australian certification. All Davida helmets are Euro ECE22.05 and American DOT approved.

Davida describes the Koura as: “An uncompromising fusion of innovative design, exceptional ergonomics and superior comfort, a modern safety product has been transcended through DAVIDA’s unique aesthetics”.

Davida also makes face masks, gloves, jackets, jeans, vacuum gauges, caps, hats and goggles.
