If you’re looking for a sleek superbike that pays homage to the retro cafe racer scene without dipping too many fingers in the bubble aesthetic, we’ve found a fleet of builds that will have you biting your fist and reaching for your Bell Bullitt.
The DeBolex dB25 is a monster of a machine… literally. Featuring a donor heart courtesy of Bologna’s Ducati Monster 1200S with 145 pretty ponies singing to the tune of 91 lb.-ft. of yank, Duncan Quinn at Maxim has every right to call her “the ultimate stock wheelie bike.”
Calum Pryce-Tidd, the founder of DeBolex Engineering, points out the 22 carbon fiber parts that wrap around the chassis, explaining why he chose to keep the intimacy in the final touches:
“Each model begins with a blank canvas: the dB25 in its raw form consisting of 22 carbon fiber panels, wrapped around the last of the trellis-framed Ducati Monster 1200s… From there, we play with paint and seat trim designs together with frame and engine upgrades to create a reflection of the owner’s vision,” comments Pryce-Tidd.
Number 6 of the limited 25-unit fleet is one such example; for this client, DeBolex combined BRM racing heritage with Alfa Romeo’s “Bluette” color palette, painting both nose roundel and intakes a bright orange to compliment a Maxton RT10 rear shock, a custom subframe (finished in Cerakote) with a numbered badge, and a fantastic addition to brakes with Magura master cylinders, Cerakote-treated calipers, and Pro-Bolt stainless steel fixings to round off the addition of a very nice, very loud SC Project pipe… to “wake all the neighbors on a Sunday morning.”
