Face it – despite the hemming and hawing around the table, everybody’s got their favorite bike brand.
For the indomitable James Bond, it’s a Triumph machine. For cybercriminal Neo, his adventures through the Matrix included a gorgeous Ducati.
We even have a Doppelganger Maverick motoring off a cliff to appease the crowds in “Mission: Impossible 7” (Tom Cruise chooses the BMW G 310 GS for scenic scoots when he’s not flinging himself into thin air – he’s got a Honda for that – but you get the point).
Now, it’s Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell’s turn as he guns for the May 27th debut of Paramount’s 2022 action flick, “Top Gun: Maverick” – and surprise surprise, it’s a fleet of Kawi babes, alongside a few yet-to-be-named machines that will be purportedly chilling in Maverick’s personal hangar.
A report from RRW states that Maverick’s main machine is a supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2™ Carbon – the ultimate thumper for this season’s nostalgic game of takeoff tag.
“Working with the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ team has been amazing,” says Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., Vice President, Marketing, Chris Brull.
“When we had the chance to jump onboard and see our Kawasaki Ninja motorcycles on the big screen again, we had to be involved. We know that Maverick is a dedicated Kawasaki rider and we made sure he had a full garage of Kawasaki models.”
All told, four supercharged Ninja H2 Carbons have been provided to the film, along with two restored Ninja GPZ 900Rs and “some additional surprise models that may appear in Maverick’s personal hanger featured in the film.”
Excited to be at the opening night on May 27th? If you’re keen on supporting the franchise, Paramount’s collab with Kawasaki includes a few limited edition t-shirts, featuring both Top Gun’s original Ninja GPZ 900R as well as the supercharged Ninja H2 Carbon.
The shirts will be made available at participating American Kawasaki dealers, should you wish to attend the film’s debut decked out in the collab’s finest.
