Arai Athlete's Slingshot Strategy Secures Second Win

The Daytona 200’s defending champion has struck again for 2022 with the same slingshot move that won him the championship last year – and by golly, it worked. AGAIN.

We have to say one thing: It takes guts to have patience, and if there’s one thing that’s got to be tough when topping speeds of over 200mp/h, it’s waiting to capitalize on a perfect moment without jumping the proverbial gun…especially considering that time moves so much slower when you’re in the zone.

In Brandon Paasch’s case, that same slingshot strategy and brilliant control won him a lead of 0.007 seconds, taking the podium as the next racer to win back-to-back since Danny Eslick’s 2014/2015 and 2017/2018 consecutive wins (according to SpeedSport).

As for the rest of the season, we’re told that there are a total of 140 racers that are registered for the circuit, with the breakdown as follows:

Daytona 200: 50

Rolex 24: 46

Mission King Of The Baggers (KOTB): 19

Super Hooligans: 25
