This is an excellent guide to the wonderful BMW R100RS. This bike was extremely radical when it first appeared in 1977, and it was the most expensive motorcycle available in the U.S.A. at the time.

The book mentions the fact that many people can recall just where they were when they first gazed upon this bike, and I’m one of them!  I distinctly remember seeing it for the first time during a visit to Saratoga Springs, New York.

I couldn’t believe it (I was riding a Yamaha RD400 at the time) and I lusted after one for many, many years, but could never afford one — until now!  I’m the proud (and recent) owner of a 1984 BMW R100RS “Last Edition”. The book claims that only 250 of these were made for the U.S.A. market, and mine is in mint condition (see the wBW R100RS page for more information and a photo).

This isn’t a big book, but it’s very reasonably priced and it has just the right amount of detail, including a short history of BMW that leads the reader up to the development and release of the R100RS. It includes a section covering the various differences in R100RS model years; a nice chart detailing the technical specifications and performance of the bike and the famous fairing; a section on the rare Rennsport edition and more.

Loaded with very high quality photographs, this book is a must for anyone who loves the R100RS and all R100RS owners![books/book-includes/amazon-horiz-w-search.htm]
