BMW Motorrad has made it easier to work out their comprehensive and confusing price list for bikes equipped with their vast array of extras and electronic gizmos.
Their ‘Price Configurator‘ is an online facility that takes buyers through a step-by-step guide to buying their bike and selecting all the extras, then presenting them with a ride away price for their particular model. It’s like Triumph’s configurator which they have and for years, but has the extra facility of providing an itemised ride-away price specific for each state or territory as it depends on state stamp duties, rego and third-party insurance costs.
However, dealer fit accessories, such as GS panniers are excluded from the Price Configurator and you will have to contact your local BMW Motorrad dealer. The recommended ride-away price includes 12 months’ registration and compulsory third party insurance (where applicable), but excludes any discounts and rebate as well as dealer-specific delivery costs.
You may also have to install a plug-in for the configurator to work. The BMW website is a clunky beast and you will find it difficult to navigate, but it’s worth persisting. The Price Configurator is on the main page on a small line under the top line.
Meanwhile, BMW Motorrad has announced their GS Experience test ride program is back in 2014 at the following ensues: Wisemans Ferry (north of Sydney) June 19-20; Maleny (Sunshine Coast) August 13-14; Toolangi (Yarra Valley) October 8-9.
The program has been running over the past two years giving hundreds of riders the opportunity to ride the GS bikes on-road and off-road. BMW experts are also on hand to give some riding tips as well as talk them through the complex array of electronic rider aids.
BMW models available are the water-cooled R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure, F 800 GS, F 800 GS Adventure, F 700 GS as well as the Learner approved G 650 GS and G 650 GS Sertão. It costs $49 which covers refreshments and a BMW Motorrad GS Experience T-Shirt.
