Toowoomba motorcyclists will ride for the homeless on Sunday, May 22, 2016, for the annual Huggie Bear Memorial Blanket Run.
Riders are asked to bring blankets and jackets to keep the homes warm over winter.
The event follows recent Blanket Runs in Brisbane and Canberra showing how generous, kind-hearted and charitable motor cyclists are!
The original Toowoomba Blanket Run was started more than 15 years ago by a group of local motorcyclists.
When the group folded the Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club kept it running.
Recently it was renamed the Huggie Bear Memorial Toowoomba Blanket Run in honour of a long-time rider and member of the original group who passed away a couple of years ago.
Last year’s event was the largest with more than 100 motorcycles and organisers are hoping for more this year.
All blankets and kackets are handed over to the Salvation Army who distribute to needy families in the area.
Riders meet at Picnic Point from 10.30am with the ride starting at noon and finishing at the DMCSC club rooms at the Toowoomba Show Grounds where the blankets are officially handed over to the Salvos.
The local Loins Club will have sausage sizzle at the end.
