Big Brother could be watching where you ride and how you ride with new technology being offered free in the UK.

Every rider with a phone, GPS, action camera and/or data logger on their bike is already at risk of having stored information used against them as evidence.

Now a British dashcam model and Honda UK are stepping up the Big Brother factor.

Nextbase dashcam is teaming up with the police to launch a new ‘online portal’ where its cameras (and those other manufacturers) will send footage directly to the police.

Drivers can already send video of dangerous driving — or riding — to police, but this makes it so much easier with a live link.

How may drivers will send video of riders filtering through traffic or overtaking them simply because they are annoyed at riders or jealous of their ability to move through traffic?

Honda Motorcycles UK is offering riders free Datatool data loggers on all new motorcycles and a discount as a retro fit on their bikes.

This handy tool is used to track down motorcycles that are stolen. And theft is a major issue in the UK where one bike every six minutes is stolen.

But if Honda makes a success of this promotion, others will follow and pretty soon there could be a database out there to monitor a majority of motorcycles on the road, where they are going and how fast they are travelling.

As more and more riders agree to being tracked, it may not be long before insurance companies demand we fit tracking devices before they will insure us.

Warning to riders

Riders should be aware of the vast amounts of information tat is already being logged about their riding and that police can access this information and have used it as evidence against riders.
